Well, it is getting, unpleasant... Someone is using (spoofing) my various INNERSITES.COM email address to appear to be sending spam from my servers. I say "appear" because it is highly probable (99%) they are faking the headers and sending them from another (hacked or otherwise "black") server. "they" (whomever "they" are) do not need access to your server; just have the email address itself and they place it in a fake email header as the sender.
How do I know THEY are doing this? THEY were sure to send an email to my actual email! When reading the header created by my own server's analysis, it is clear it is spam and has come from a server other them mine and does not contain the (real) sender's info a legit email sent from within, say, Thunderbird on a legit email account would.
The Spam Filters can easily detect this. So most if not all of you who may have received an email would not even know you received it. Your email server/Spam programs would of prevented it's delivery. I have even configured my email server to HELP others email servers varify if it was really from me.
What IS the REAL problem is these Spam Detector programs report >ME< as the spammer! Eventually my "reputation" precedes me and my emails are blocked at more and more web servers.
To me it appears to be a clear case of harassment. They seem to WANT to smear me. I have resisted the radio host paranoia button until this point, but, it is looking more like it is time to push it.
The kicker is the alleged spammer (me) is guilty until proven innocent. So, I have to prove my servers are not compromised (installing new malware scanners today) and then provide who is doing the dirty work, and hope, they will release me from spam prison.
How does one stop someone from creating fake headers to appear you are sending the email? You CANNOT.
Such is the life of an truly independent server. Any IT wizzes out there that can help?
